Superbad

Superbad is a great example of how when we have a perception of something in society, it does not always turn out to be the truth. For example, In Superbad this is greatly exaggerated by the fact that the characters in the movie believe that by buying girls alcohol they will get them to be attracted to them. They forget that in today’s society you need much more than alcohol to impress a woman. For example, when you are walking down a street instead of coming up to a woman and being like I want to buy you alcohol, you can be nice to her instead. However, that being said people’s perception of what women like to do is to party all of the time. This is exaggerated in the movie Superbad to make it funny. In fact, it represents one of the main theories in comedy which is incongruity theory. The fact that these guys believe that all that you have to do to get a girl to like you is to buy them alcohol is incongruous with the actually happens. The fact that Superbad is so out of touch with reality is what makes it very funny. Although I enjoyed the movie to a certain extent and laughed. I generally enjoy movies that are more in touch with reality. I really like romantic comedies that generalize around a rich guy who is trapped with a girl who is crazy and will get the guy to go out of his comfort zone. Overall, I enjoyed the movie, but I like things that are a little more down to earth and that I can relate to. Maybe I cannot relate to it because I would rather spend time hanging around people and talking to them rather than partying with them.
