Deadpool

Deadpool is an interesting topic that I want to talk about. One of the interesting things about Deadpool is the incongruity theory. The fact that we think of superheroes as supposed to look like they are masculine and look good is false in Deadpool. The man who plays the lead character in Deadpool is in fact ugly. He has gone under multiple mutations to his body to give him the ability to not die. Incongruity theory states that anything outside of our reality that is incongruous to our environment is funny. The fact that Deadpool is ugly and cannot die I think defies the reality greatly. In Deadpool the main character is threatened by the organization that did the mutations to him in the first place. I think this is quite different from other Marvel movies in the fact that the people that made the lead character into who he was are now chasing after him. The lead character also shows a love story between him and a girl who actually loves him because of who he is. I think the fact that...

Superbad

Superbad is a great example of how when we have a perception of something in society, it does not always turn out to be the truth. For example, In Superbad this is greatly exaggerated by the fact that the characters in the movie believe that by buying girls alcohol they will get them to be attracted to them. They forget that in today’s society you need much more than alcohol to impress a woman. For example, when you are walking down a street instead of coming up to a woman and being like I want to buy you alcohol, you can be nice to her instead. However, that being said people’s perception of what women like to do is to party all of the time. This is exaggerated in the movie Superbad to make it funny. In fact, it represents one of the main theories in comedy which is incongruity theory. The fact that these guys believe that all that you have to do to get a girl to like you is to buy them alcohol is incongruous with the actually happens. The fact that Superbad is so ou...

Tom and Jerry

Tom and Jerry are two characters that fascinate me. Over the course of the show you can see tome and jerry constantly fighting one another for the supremacy of the house that they own. Tom constantly acts like he is the one who runs the house when in actuality he has no control over the house at all. Jerry the mouse likes to take things that are going on with Tom and mess with him and his ego so he gets infuriated that he is not superior to Jerry. For example, I remember that Tom always likes to set traps for Jerry over the course of the show. However, Tom quickly realizes that he is never smart enough with his traps for Jerry. This is because Jerry always makes Tom fall into his own traps. Now back to comedy. Over the course of the show Tom and Jerry we can see there is a constant force of Superiority theory at work. This is because Jerry always makes fun of his supposed superior Tom. In normality this would not be funny, however the fact that a mouse is winning ag...
